From README.osx:

System Requirements
-------------------

In addition to the hardware requirements (which will be the same as the other
platforms) your system will need these libraries installed:

* GTK+ 2+
* SDL 1.2+
* SDL_image

And some kind of OpenGL implementation, so:

* libgl
* libglu

This has confused at least one person, who tried to install SDL 2 themselves.

Additional Information

Everything from "System requirements" onward seems to be Linux-specific (e.g. the sound output flag and SDL_DISABLE_LOCK_KEYS)
