0010437: Adventurer changes name
Adventurer changes name
Happened several times and I allways fixed it with a rollback. Now I have a save where I'm just outside a lair. If I ask the cyclops inside to "cease hostilities" and kill him after (he never accepts) my name changes, haven't noticed or tried the other times it happened, but at this particular save it's very easyily and 100% reproducable (I have been replaying the fight dozens of times now, since I'd like to record the talking into the log I keep).
Interaction with friendly NPC hints to the fact that I still am who I was, just that my name changes (check the thread "Name Bug?" in gameplay questions at bay12 forum, http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=168385.0 [^]). Also it seems to be completly unrelated to false identities (at least that's what it looks liek from my end)

actually it seems to happen whenever I kill a historically relevant creature. So far I have nearly 600 kills (8 vaults) but one sentient or megabeast and my second name changes... could it be the memory hacking at char creation?

Is this not the thing where your name grows longer after making notable kills? That happens to all creatures as far as I'm aware, including adventurers if you don't start off with a name that's the maximum length, and it's been a feature for a while now.

Yep I'm positive it's not a title, the time I went longest without a rollback I had a title come in later.

Wait, is this just a thing that happens when you just do first name + the first part of the second name and it hasn't been noticed because it feels weird to do that?

What uh? I'm not sure this answers your question Max, but I'll try.

Bomrek Lolok (Bomrek Granite) allways changes into a classical dorfname like Bomrek Sarveshuzol or Bomrek Kuletashok. A title, such as Bomrek Furnaceoil "the student of names", only gets added later when I continue a savegame where my name allready changed. So far I haven't managed to acquire a title without changing secondname first.

Could it be the fact that my secondname is only one word short?

BTW I did never see it change twice in the same savegame.

Yeah, it's just something you get when you do First Second_____ instead of First Secondname or First Secondname the Third Fourth of Many type names.
