0010553: Game crashes when I refuse to give away artifact
Fortress Mode. A quester comes and requests an artifact. If I refuse to give it, the game crashes.
(Everything seems to be OK if I give away the artifact)
I have tested the save folder on different versions of Dwarf Fortress - vanilla PC, PeridexisErrant's Starter Pack and even the plain Linux version, all versions 44.05. Crashes everywhere.
In Linux, the terminal tells me of a "segmentation fault" when it crashes.

Originally, I created the game on PeridexisErrant's Starter Pack, alpha version, DF 44.02. But when I noticed the problem, I was already playing it on 44.03 for most of it, still with the Starter Pack.

If it matters, I have previously killed some tavern visitors when I found out that they got some information about this artifact. From a turkey, WTF?! It was in the announcements.
In fact, when I test this, sometimes the visiting quester gets killed by my military before reaching my expedition leader.

(Either this is a bug, or the quester simply forgot to threaten me with crashing my game, haha. )

What kind of announcement did it give you when the turkey gave info? Do you remember the exact wording?

Edit: Likely this bug: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=10356 [^]

Please upload your save to DFFD ( http://dffd.bay12games.com/ [^] ) and add a link to it here. Thanks!

Yes, as far as I remember, the wording was something like this.

Thank you for the save; it crashes reliably for me as well.

This happened to me today. Refused an artifact, instant crash.

Here's a save where the same thing is happening in a fresh 47.04 game.

I popped open legends mode for this save and I have a hint that may help debug:

Mubo Wetman is the Chief of the Ardent Mushrooms and the guy who is demanding my artifact.

He placed the claim on the artifact in Summer of year 242.

His envoy arrived to demand I give up the artifact in Spring of 243.

Unfortunately, Mubo died in the winter of 242, before his envoy arrived at my fort.

It seems like maybe this SegFault could be caused by trying to "notify" or otherwise reference a now-dead historical figure?

Two more notes:

1. I killed the visitor who was going to demand the artifact and the game progressed past the previous date when it crashed.

2. I found the demanded artifact sitting outside on the ground outside of my fort for some reason? Just in case that is useful for debugging.
