Summary0010858: Most surface crops cannot be grown
DescriptionSurface farm plots seem to have completely random lists of plants that they will show as available to grow. The majority of surface plants will not appear, and the list varies from fortress to fortress. There does not seem to be any pattern between the available plants.
Steps To ReproduceBuild a farm plot on the surface and check the available plants to grow.
Additional InformationPersonally tested twice, and I know of at least one other person with the same issue.

It is not explicitly explained, but aboveground plants have particular climate conditions based on the boundaries between biomes, specifically in tundras & glaciers beyond, only blackberries raspberries & blueberries will grow.

If you border a desert but on the same embark space also a tundra (WG's odd like that), moving from one to the other will yield different results. Its not as fleshed out as you may have liked but its there.

All crops require a suitable biome for planting. Mountains, tundras, oceans, etc. are not suitable for the majority of plants. Try farming in a temperate or tropical forest instead.
