0011333: Cats can be interrogated.
Animals (and dead people) show up in the list of people you can interrogate, and when selected the Sherrif/CotG will dutifully drag them off off to his office to get to the bottom of things.
1. Promote someone to Sherrif/CotG and give them an office
2. Wait for someone to cause trouble
3. In the justice screen, press [i] and scroll all the way down to the animals
4. Interrogate an animal

Intentional, sort of. Just like how you can have a random fortress animal hammered for the crime of vampiric murder and recieve bad thoughts throughout the fortress as they recognise it is absurd.

It would be worthwhile to remain vigilant for signs that your cat is not part of any conspiracies and check the mind screens around the fortress to see if they acknowledge it as equally silly.

Google "execution of animals in the middle ages" for some eye-opening accounts on where this is all coming from. Quite legitimate. Put that cat on trial!

So I can confirm that you are able to successfully interrogate animals (though it hadn't seen anything!)

What I find more game-breaking is that you can interrogate a dead suspect and have them confess and give you leads. I was considering making a separate report for it, but this one seems close enough.

No most definitely dead people confessing warrants their own report really, it can be tabbed in as a related report to this one by a Mantis moderator if appropriate.
