0011511: Mutliple Stockpile Issues
Let's say you make a stockpile for metal finished goods (crafts, chains, etc) from various metals.

If you want to separate the items later, the dwarves will not do that for you.

e.g. I created a new stockpile for just lead crafts, and assigned the stockpile to take from the general one where everything is stored after being made. My goal was to move them up to the jewelers area to encrust them. The dwarves would not move the bin until I manually dumped out the non lead-crafts.

Next problem is the Jewelers would not encrust the crafts. I assigned the lead crafts stockpile and the gem stockpile to give to the jeweler workshop, and they kept cancelling the job.

Awhile ago (years, last time I played), I had an issue with cut gems being stored in bins. They would never be available for encrusting. The only way I could get around this was to not use bins.

The bin issues have not been addressed. Bins lock the access to all contents within them while the bin is being addressed, causing cancellation of jobs that have allocated an item in that bin if the job tries to get the item while the bin is locked.

Bins remain problematic with stockpile links, as the logic does not allow for bin less stockpiles to (successfully) take from binned ones, and containers that contain items that are not permitted by the target stockpile will neither be moved or have their legitimate contents moved (I've seen it with bags with mixed contents as well).

Both of these issues should have existing bug reports.
