Is there a caravan at your depot? If so, could be related to http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=237 [^]

If not, then it's a duplicate of http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=8 [^]

Is there any way to shorten links?
HTML doesn't work.

I don't think 0000008 would be likely to cause that many deaths. Have you created any burrows? When you 'i' over the drinking zones, is the number next to "Water Source" greater than 0?

dwarves dont like drinking water; maybe they're deciding to go get their ration too late (as they are already grow thirsty or even dehydrated with booze, which they like perfectly well)

yeah footkerchief after the first one died i started making zones out of rivers and lakes and the number on each one was over zero i remember. i also made rooms out of the 5 wells i had inside. and that might be snow i'm not sure if i had any alcohol left or not but after they started dying i thought about that too and sent one to start brewing but then there were no barrels and than more people started dying and than the other ones were throwing tantrums cause of it..... but i still have it saved right before that stuff starts happening maybe i'll try again in a bit. even if there is no alcohol thou, this shouldn't be happening

and you're right i just noticed this isn't a duplicate of the other one. i remember the first dwarf this happened to i saw him thirsty and starving and i disabled all of his jobs. he still died a little while after that

and i created a burrow and added everyone to it before when i got attacked cause i don't know how to send everyone inside in the new version but i deleted it after it was done

Hmm... if the "water source" number on the zones was greater than 0, I don't think it could have been salt water. Could you upload the save, please? Create a zip file containing the save's region folder (in /data/save), and upload the zip file to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^]

i'm really sorry :( i was playing again and this time even after 7 people died i got it back to normal more or less and i saved again. i was going to leave a duplicate in case you guys needed it but my game has no data/save. i'm using the gold plated tileset so maybe that changed something? if this save is still of any use do you know where the gold plated tileset puts it's saves? i feel really guilty now D:

You... don't have a folder called "save" in the "data" folder? Oh, you're on Windows 7. Did you install DF in Program Files?
(0004652)
Halex
2010-04-22 16:58
yep. but i don't see a save folder in there

Yeah, installing it in Program Files is the problem. Vista and Windows 7 "protect" Program Files.

Go to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files. You should see a "mirror" of your DF folder there, and it should contain /data/save. Copy /data/save into the real DF folder, and then move the DF folder out of Program Files so that Win 7 will stop being a nuisance.

After that, you should be able to upload the save as explained above.

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2201 [^] booyah. sorry again if i made it harder by saving after the event

also if you scroll way back on the announcements you see the last person that died from it. Anais. but maybe she was just overly sad from the other people dying from thirst? i don't know if that's possible but the other ones were grouped together, she died a bit afterwards.

Yeah, I loaded it up and forbade all the booze, and they seem to be drinking from the wells just fine. I removed the walls and they drank from the river. It all seems normal.

If dwarves go insane/melancholy, they usually die of dehydration. Is it possible that the ones who died had all gone insane?

that's only possible for anais. the other ones were all grouped together and i don't think any of them even threw a tantrum before they died and everyone was happy before that. way in the begining there was also one lone dwarf that wouldn't eat or drink who wasn't insane either and eventually died... i'll keep playing and wait for it to happen again if it does i'll put that save so you can see it in action and maybe it's something weird i did....

don't worry i'll keep playing till it happens again >:]
