"I am president." "I am the president." Both of these are acceptable, so why not for an arsenal dwarf?

I am president dosn't really sound right like the person dosnt have the ability to make a full sentence. So I guess thats asthetics and "proper" english. So I support the change even if it is very minor.

"I am president" is completely proper and at worst sounds very slightly archaic. Although it's not used as often for the main clause of a sentence, it's frequently used in subordinate clauses, e.g. "while I am president" and "until I am president."

I was under the impression that arsenal dwarf was along the lines of a quartermaster- in charge of the equipment. A president can use the Royal We- he exists as an embodiment of a head of state, like a king. A quartermaster is just a job, and hardly the most prestigious. Thus "I am the arsenal dwarf" reflects his position better.

Omission of the article doesn't require that the office be prestigious. That's just the context you're used to hearing it in, because archaic forms are more often used in formal settings.

The question is now moot- Toady has removed the position of arsenal dwarf.
