0003529: No normal historical beasts, and no non-mega beast rampages
I noticed that there appear to be no historical animals outside of the (semi)megabeasts in the recent versions, where there would normally be lions, wolves, and sasquatches that somehow earned a name. By extension, there are no monster rampages other than those of megabeasts and titans. I know that in my mods, there are some beasts that would usually earn not just a name, but a name with " of " (easy to filter out), indicating a minimum of five notable kills, and I think in vanilla sasquatches are/were filling that role as well.

As far as I can see, historical figures that go "wandering the wilds" or "scouting the surroundings" get no wild animal kills, and I have yet to see historical figures that take up "hunting great beasts", which definitely should give them wild animal kills.
Check the history of any world generated in the recent versions.
Another cause may be that wild animals were accidentally made unable to achieve historical status in worldgen the same way that entity populations and their war pets were.

I've managed to locate records of historical figures being slain by wild animals, but said animals never seem to get named - "In the late autumn of 64, Dur was struck down by a tiger in Fairqueen".

A world generated in version 0.31.12 seems to have plenty of these; presumably, they were removed as a result of the sprawl-related changes introduced in version 0.31.13.

That tiger may have been a war pet - was there a battle in that year and month?

Indeed there was (Goblins attacking Elves), and the tiger was one of the defenders.

I've checked the xml export of a 31.14 world, and I can confirm that there are no animals among the historical figures apart from gods (thanks to the expanded xml in the new versions), and while many events exist where a historical figure "changes state" to scouting, wandering, snatcher, thief, or refugee, there is no change to a hunting state, which still existed in 31.12.

These are back in version 0.31.17.

Beasts, yes, but I think the hunters aren't back. On the other hand, I think I also saw wild animals among the kill lists of a few historical figures. Anyway, hunters not existing may be better suited for a different bug report, assuming that it isn't on purpose.

I think this should be marked as resolved. While historical beasts work differently now, they do exist and go on rampages. As per my previous note, I'll check whether hunters of great beasts exist in the upcoming 31.22, and open a new bug report if necessary.
