0003846: Game Crashes When ever I "prepare for journey carefully"
I can start adventure mode ok
I can start fortress mode ok with the premade dwarves and gear
If I prepare and set up my dwarves skills and gear to my liking the game crashes before even getting to the screen with the text that normally appears before the game.

I have tried:
a totally fresh install without my slightly modded init <just save settings anyway>
turning off compressed save
genning a new world

My embark area is only 3x4 and I have 3GB of RAM and If I use a world that crashed before but dont "prepare" it works Ok
Start game
gen a world
"prepare carefully"
embark
CRASH!
The game does not appear to be creating an error log

Does it still crash if you move the save to a fresh vanilla install of 0.31.18? If not, it's probably related to your PRINT_MODE and/or TrueType. You should also try updating your graphics drivers.

With a totally fresh install I still get the issue, downloading my latest drivers now.

The game does start fine in the arena, adventure mode and with a non prepared start no problem

EDIT: Already have the latest driver :)

Well I think I have fixed the problem, sort of...

Of I create a new world without the advanced parameters it seems to be working.

All I change in advanced is the number of years to 250, the min temp to 0 and min drainage to 10

Did you make any changes to the save's raws?

If not, you should upload the crashing save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^] and post the link here. If you have to embark in a specific location to get the crash, you should also upload a screenshot of the location to http://tinypic.com/ [^]

No changes to anything that complex, and it s=happens with every world generated.

If you have a param set that consistently generates crashing worlds, please copy it from data/init/world_gen.txt, upload it to http://pastebin.com/ [^] and post the link here

I have the same problem has him but mine crash even when I don't prepare the journey

I think the problem is related to Windows 7 64 bit

The 64-bit version does not cause this problem, I have this problem on my tower PC with Windows 7 x64 and on my Laptop with Windows 7 x86.
