I have not been having this problem, so I think it has to do with region dynamics. I have seen a thread on acid rain though http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=52609 [^]

see 0000190 , 0000289, 0000307

In your case is this in fortress mode or adventure ?

How is this related to 0000317? 0000317 is about stairs.

(And my experience with rain is in fortress mode)

A note: This was in Dwarf mode. The first instances for me having this was right next to a volcano. I would just receive messages about creatures immediately bleeding to death. This effect would happen regardless of how far away they were from the magma (most of them being a good distance to begin with).

'eh? did I bungle a link? Checking... Okay, that was 0000307, not 317. My bad.

As for you being in fort mode, the bug is environmental, it's not really limited to adventure mode although it has been noticed more there.

All you really need however is a scorching environment. add a bit of water to make dwarf soup. The same effect can seen seen near magma in any environment.

You don't even need a scorching environment. Even warm is enough.

I really love this bug. It's going to have to get immortalized with a quote or something.

Water + Heat + Dwarf = Dwarf Soup

I dunno, I'm still working on it. ;P

Dwarf Soup recipe.

Boil 1 oz water. Add dwarf to taste. Serve hot.

When dumping water on magma I had a similar effect, presumably from the steam, although they were near rather than in the steam.

ooooo... I like that one Rondol.

Before this gets patched out someone has just got to collect a video of this effect. It's just too priceless. ;)

In Warm biomes, rather than hot or scorching, this often doesn't kick in until summer for me, making it even more annoying when your dwarves survive several rainstorms and you've decided it's safe, only to have them AND the first wave of migrants melt :).
