0000582: She likes to consume she.
I think it means 'elf', but it says 'she'. Since she is an elf, I guess I understand why it makes this mistake.
Generate a bunch of sapient-eating people and check their preferences. Some of them will like to eat 'she' or 'he'. It is always the same gender as the person him/herself.

I've seen dwarves exhibit the same behavior, and they don't eat other dwarves.

My mayor "prefers to consume she", and someone carved a statue of her surrounded by plump helmets. She has no other thoughts about plump helmets, so I'm thinking it could be the case that it refers to them.

Still occurs in 31.06 (Linux). My chief medical dwarf, female, has "When possible, she prefers to consume she."

Maybe the statue worker was trying to subtly suggest that she consume he?

Still occurs in 31.10 (Linux). One of my initial seven dwarves at embarkation had "She prefers to consume she" just now.

If anyone has a save that reproduces this problem in 31.10, it might be helpful to upload the save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^]

Maybe dwarves now have tastes specific to gender?

Okay, save can now be found at http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2744 [^] -- look for the character "Igorina" Edëmgesis, Hauler.

Incidentally, Igorina "prefers to consume she and rock nuts", so whatever is causing this bug is probably a single food preference.

Hmm... it's probably just a string not getting properly initialized or something. Thanks for uploading!

Just got this again in 31.12, in one of my 7 initial dwarves during a first embark. If another save would be helpful besides the one I uploaded earlier, I can upload this one too.

Same issue, 31.12

I have a theory that for dwarves it has to do with the genders for vermin fish (i.e. how they're duplicated but not listed as specifically male/female); something is not quite right so instead of listing the fish the gender is listed. Especially since prepared fish is still classified this way when requesting it from the caravan, it seems likely.

No clue why this would only produce "she/she" and "he/he" preferences, so maybe this isn't the core issue.

As far as I can tell, this was fixed prior to 34.01. I might have encountered it independent, but it looks like it's impossible to reproduce the double pronoun now. Feel free to reopen if you get it in 34.01+.
