0005983: flood gates "blasted out" by pressure
I had 2 magma-safe quartzite floodgates, one of which blocked a single path into the magma sea and another a little bit further beyond that one. When I dug out the channel to let the sea through, then opened the floodgates, they were "blasted out" of their position and disconnected from the mechanisms, presumably by the magma putting tremendous force on them as it moved through. The floodgates now sit in a pile of magma in the rooms which I carved out beyond the sea.

This is pretty darn cool, but I think it's a bug.

Were the mechanisms also magma safe? I seem to recall that if the floodgates are magma safe, but the mechanisms aren't, this will occur.

Almost certainly they were not. Interesting - is that intended behavior?

What exactly were the mechanisms made of?

Maybe not intentional but expected. If a non-magma-safe mechanism is linked to an object, then exposed to magma, the mechanism will be destroyed and the object they are linked to will deconstruct.
