0006541: Generated dwarf fortress has no exit
My first contact with 0.40.01 , i generated a world, created a dwarf demigod and started the game.

I appeared to be in a fortress, big rooms with workshops are around, there is a stair that led into a 2nd floor with many individual bedrooms.

But there is no exit and no dwarf around.

There are bedrooms, but no beds, and no dwarves to be seen around.

Edit: Nvm, found some dwarves and there is access, I guess it's just a big fort. Still odd that the crafting floor is empty of dwarves though.

Yeah, this is a biggie. Even when there is a way out, I have to say I've spent 90 percent of my adventure mode play trying to find the exit. That's enough to make a new player quit the game, to search for hours only to realize that you have searched everywhere and you are indeed sealed off from the world.

I was investigating about a worldgen mountainhome ruins and when I couldn't find the supposed entrance, I used DFhack reveal (and temporarily giving humans low light vision) and there it was. At least I think it's the ruined mountainhome of Bootclans.

Wouldn't have known it was there if I didn't use DFhack's reveal.

I would estimate these 'no exit' fortresses are generated about once in every twenty times, or a bit more often. Here's a DF 0.40.24 save

I would actually put this bug not in Adventure Mode but in overall world creation.
My suggestion for a placeholder fix would be to check in adventure mode if there's a connection to the ground level, or something like that, somehow.

Just making sure folks stuck in an exitless fort have already tried to travel and use the careful move up/down keys to see if that gets them up to the surface, because it's very unobvious if you don't notice the little compass cursor in travel mode go from a O to either < or > arrows.
