0007216: Underground creatures teleported to surface
Creatures from the caverns are sometimes deposited on the surface in adventure mode.

The save is many times slower, there are an absurd number of creatures on the surface, and signs of what is apparently a battle - dead crundles everywhere, dead tribespeople, leather and blowdarts scattered everywhere.

It's only sometimes reproducible. I think it has something to do with there being a tribe directly underneath a lair. I got it to do it with a separate save, but that was in between a number of failed attempts.
Find an empty underground lair, leave, fast travel back.
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=8938 [^] <--- a save with the issue, right in the middle of it. "waiting" an hour makes the issue disappear. That might help solve it.

On second thought, this might ought to be put as "minor". And the priority probably shouldn't be high either.

I had something like this happen inside a Human city in 0.40.02 - I approached the keep while in fast-travel mode, and when I exited there was a snakeman spearman attacking people, so I killed it. I then walked to the keep, looked around, then walked back and encountered a Gremlin and two Elk Birds, and my next attempt at conversation revealed reports of dwarves attacking " ", which turned out to be flesh balls (leading to the amusing question "Can you tell me where I can find a flesh ball?"). After going back to the marketplace, I saw a bunch of plump helmet men and a few other dangerous creatures, and then the game crashed (probably due to 0007088).

I've got one for 40.10, however it seems to be a one-off bug and I'm not able to get it to reproduce.

Here's an instance that is 100% reproducible in 40.13. I tested this with DFhack inert and it's associated with a spam of "no layer area available for historical figure" errors in the errorlog.

Also linked to the chaos going on in 0008427 because it's the same site and 0006708 for animal recruit.

Option 1: Go to travel mode, move a space east or west, move back and then go south, you'll get ambushed every time. This way 100% reliably reproduces it.

Option 2: Walk far enough for the site to offload and then come back. Not sure if it's 100% reproducible, there were a few times that I didn't see any critters, but the error spam was there.

So in that save, about 20% of the underground creatures down in the caves became historical. I'm not sure why. It doesn't appear to be conversations. Once they become historical, I've figured out what's going on and can fix that at some point (that * is actually all individual hunter armies operating out of the fortress).
