0007236: Trees don't regrow - env. covered in live/dead saplings
Trees don't regrow, they only have saplings and all die - the biome I'm in is a half-mountain and then a half something else biome - the mountain half never had trees, and has no saplings, but the other half was wooded, like a good dorf I chopped down all trees, saplings regrow, but then die before reaching maturity.

What is the "something else" biome? That would be useful to know. Also, mountains currently don't have trees on them at all, so that's normal - but likely to change in the future.

I haven't seen any "multi-tile" trees regrow from saplings yet, played some maps for 3-4 years (no invaders mode, no strange moods mode)... Did anyone see that?..

Once you chop down all trees, the only way to get wood is trading...

How do I check the biome? The mountains not having trees is normal, but should the multi-tile trees grow back? Maybe toady changed it, but it seems like a bug. Anyone see any trees regrow yet?

I'm wondering if this may be related to bug 0006704, assuming the root cause over there is a memory issue where the game doesn't clear felled trees properly?

I tweaked one parameter and the tests show the proper survivability rate now, so hopefully that'll work. Saplings will still die if they are shaded too much by other trees, but they won't die almost universally now.
