Summary0007760: Dwarves construct walls from wrong side, wall themselves out of fortress or into alcove
DescriptionDwarves who collect building material on the far side of a wall-to-be-constructed return to the construction site and build the wall from the far side. This can result in the dwarf becoming walled out of the fortress, or walled into an alcove.
Steps To Reproducedig a one-tile mine shaft
forbid all the material on the closer (fortress) side of the planned wall
order a wall constructed using material from the far side of the wall
watch as your dwarf walls himself in

Notably, it has been reported on the forums that the old trick of constructing and suspending a building on the "wrong" tile (to prevent the builder from standing there) no longer works.
