0000834: Blue Screen of Death During Combat between Training Weapon-equipped Dwarves & a berserking mooder
I set several military squads to kill a berserking dwarf (unfulfilled strange mood); but due to them only having training swords available, they beat him to unconsciousness but couldn't kill him; all of his major body parts were yellow, along with dozens of red minor extremities (fingers, throat, etc).

After a few minutes of them fighting him around 100 FPS, my computer crashed to the Blue Screen of Death; I've never had DF result in a BSOD before for any reason before and I've never had problems with BSODs in general on this computer. If I had to take a guess, it was probably due to an overly-long injury list on the part of the berserking dwarf causing a memory error or something since a memory buffer overrun or something like that was mentioned on the BSOD.

I hope this report is helpful!
I have not attempted to reproduce the error (mostly because I don't really feel like intentionally crashing my whole system again).

Likely has nothing to do with DF; BSoDs nowadays are traditionally physical problems or problems with your memory. Could be any number of things. Can you upload your save so I can take a look at it?

Sorry it took me some time to get back to you about this; didn't even realize anyone had replied until now. Here's my region save; hope Megaupload is alright.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YD4ZC11R [^]

The save's current time is right when the mooder went berserk. Issue a Kill command to one of my squads (both are all using training swords as I recall); it'll take a few minutes but they'll beat him endlessly and knock him unconscious, but never injure his main body parts past yellow. After a while of this going on, my computer blacked out then crashed to the BSOD.

I acknowledge that it's kind of a stretch that it was caused by this, but I've had this computer for quite some time and I've almost never had a BSOD happen (and usually when one does happen, one tends to suspect something resource-intensive that they're doing at the time). Its system specs are 3.5gb of RAM and a 3ghz processor, if that matters at all. Anyway, thanks for hearing me out and taking a look at my save, hope this helps iron out a potential problem.

The error log shows unrecognized word tokens that seem to be a result of search and replace to remove the diacritics.

See my notes at 0001114:0011732 and 0001114:0016614.

This is also why you have a blacksmith whose last name doesn't display.

In any event, I can't get a crash to reproduce like I did with 0001114. I tested in 31.01 Legacy and 31.25. Chances are it was crashing on the generation of a migrant wave (which I got) where one of them had a name that used one of the messed up words.
