0009303: Liaison conducts the meeting but then stays in temple as a visitor after merchants leave, doing nothing
Outpost liaison from mountain home came with dwarven merchants in autumn, usual meeting was done, merchants later left... and it is now spring of year 2 of this fort and this liaison is still standing in the temple of the fort, showing "No activity" (probably) the whole time.

He now also shows "this visitor has come for diplomacy and relax".

First time seeing visitors. I would thought dwarven liaisons are too busy to function as visitors, the more for half a year. Or at least they would prey to some god and not just stand there.

I wonder what will happen again in autumn, if this liaison just steps out from the temple to meet my expedition leader and then returns to the temple.
Have a temple but no tavern when oupost liaison arrives with merchants?
I have temple but no tavern. Temple is general, not to specific good. Nobody is assigned to the temple service.

Civilization I am in has just one other site, so maybe he really has no other work to do till autumn?

I have seen the same behaviour, except I did not initially have a temple, so the liaison hangs out at meeting areas.

Have you also been part of civilization with very limited amount of other sites?

After like two years in fort she left, not sure when exactly.

I assigned one dining room to tavern and opened it for visitors, few bards and hammerman came. After several months, some of them are gone. I noticed that hammerman in "This visitor is ready to leave" state so they are in fact leaving after a while, it seems.

I've had my liaison hang out in my library, temple, and tavern for almost two seasons after he finished meeting with my mayor before he finally decided to leave. He's even participated in songs and dances, and watched poetry recitals during his stay. When viewed, it says he came for discussion and to relax, or something like that.
The stay is definitely not for lack of sites. I'm playing on a large world, and there are approximately 100 other baronies in my civ, as well as two counties. It was frustrating, because I was waiting for him to leave for my baron to be official and so I could appoint a champion.

Could this be related to 0009435, the bug in which the total value of exported goods is forever stuck at 0?

Exported goods seems to be working properly, our liaison just doesn't have many sites to check so he just seems to like to relax in our great tavern.

He came in fortyear 1, stayed for 2 years, then we got sieged and now after meeting in fortyear 5 he is in "This visitor has come for diplomacy and relax." state again. I wonder how long will he stay this time.

I don't have a temple or a tavern yet, just a generic meeting area, and the Outpost Liaison is hanging round even though he completed his meeting before the merchants had unpacked, and they're long gone.

Steve, and does s/he "came for diplomacy and _relax_" too?

I'm having the same exact problem. My civilization only has one other site and had like less than 40 people when I embarked. The caravan came once or twice or maybe even three times and we traded and talked and it was all normal. Now all of a sudden the Outpost Liaison refuses to leave. I remember getting a similar problem a while back with a tavern causing it. I had built a tavern close to the entrance/trade depot so whenever the liaison or traders or whatever came they'd get too obsessed with the tavern entertainment and never leave. I fixed that by undesignating/retiring the tavern and then redesignating it when they all leave. This time I didn't even have a tavern, only a temple and a meeting hall/dining room area. I tried deleting/undesignating both but to no avail. The guy just refuses to leave. Part of me wonders if that only other site was wiped out or something.

One weird thing is that even after I undesignate the temple so that the room is just a normal room, not even a meeting area, he still hangs around there.

I am consistently seeing this in 42.06. Liaisons never leave with the first caravan, regardless of trading, across multiple years in each of multiple forts.

I still have my initial wagon and no meeting area or special zones setup. The liaison tends to stick around until the elven caravan shows up in spring. When they arrive he goes on with getting off site.
