0009427: Random crash during the intro "video"
The game will crash during the intro segment with the Ascii video, between "Beyond quality" and the Title Screen. It does not always happen, and when it happens, it does not always happen at the same time in the video.
Launch the SDL version of Dwarf fortress for Windows (with music). Wait.

Are you using any third party tools, mods or have you changed DF raws in any way?
Does this happen to you only in the most recent version, 0.42.04, or in previous ones too?
If you turn off intro in init.txt, can you then proceed to play without crashes?

Does any warning show up? Is there anything interesting in errorlog.txt?

Also, are you interacting with the game during playback? Are you sure the movie files aren't corrupted (you could try redownloading and replace the files in data/initial_movies)?

I've had it crash between beyond and quality, although that may have been when I accidentally started up another instance in the same folder that was generating a world and they deleted each others' temporary files.
