Summary0001842: Apparently babies aren't cared for when mothers are in hospital
DescriptionHaven't seen this myself, but in another forum, someone mentioned that one of his dwarves was injured cleaning up forgotten beast blood, went to the hospital and was properly cared for (checked by a doctor, given food and water, etcetera) but no one saw to the baby she was carrying and it perished from dehydration.

This is kind of like the polar opposite of 0001481. Weird. Still dealing with parent/hospital bugs though.

It would be beneficial if you could link the post on the forums or convince the initial bug observer to submit a note regarding this issue.

Something Awful forums user 'Manos del Sino', posted on May 10, 2010 23:06 in the games forum thread 'Dwarf Fortress 2010: Goon cancels play:interupted by bug'

Well that was gruesome.

One of my dwarfs, a militia commander and mother to a newborn, suffered a bit of fat-corroding tissue damage after sweeping up those forgotten beasts. The fat from her head all melted away and she was kind of put off by that, so she went to rest in the infirmary. The doctors took great care of her, made sure she was fed and watered, they sutured a wound and cleaned out some infected tissue and put the lady on her way to recovery.

But nobody took care of the mother's whelp.

It just died of dehydration.

The post is about two thirds of the way down page 47 of the thread, I don't remember if lurkers can see the games forum or not.

The same is true when the mother dies. At least it has happened to me in 40d, and I guess it wasn't changed.

I had this happen in .31.12.

A baby died of thirst because the mother is in the hospital with a broken rib.
Baby's thoughts indicate someone gave her food and water, but long ago.
Three months old dwarf baby.

Really, one broken wrist or one broken rib shouldn't prevent walking to the food/drink barrels.

Still happens on 34.02. Also noticed that rescue of a wounded mother picks up mom but leaves the baby behind. I thought before that at least the mom carried the baby to the hospital.
