Summary | 0003105: Setting material values to defaul uniforms results in strangeness.
Description | Default uniforms use item settings found nowhere for us to assign, yet we can alter and customize those uniforms ourselfs resulting in some weird combinations. Just playing with the material values on the metal uniform can produce this: Leather metal breastplate Silk metal greaves Metal metal helm Plant cloth metal gauntlets Wood metal boots Prefered weapon
Steps To Reproduce | Choose a default uniform, change material values, have fun.
Additional Information | I have not tested to see how dwarves with conflicting uniform assignments react when equipping themselves. However this is not the point. Either the default settings for these uniforms should be available to set by the player or you shouldn't be able to change the materials of these settings.

So wait, you only accomplished this bug through modding? |

You can reproduce a similar thing by altering the 'leather armour' uniform. select the uniform, select for instance the leather armour and then dial 'M' for material, choose leather and observe the leather leather armour. By the way, a cosmetic issue: I noticed that some item descriptions are in caps while others are not... It concerns leather and bone in stockpiles, the animal it derived from is in caps for bones, but undercase for leather. In general, materials, equipment(weapons, clothing, ammo) and trapcomponents are in undercase, while furniture is in caps, except for the newer additions such as Backpacks, Quivers, Waterskins, Crutches, Splints. Also string words such as 'with' in "Decorate With material" and 'Ore' in "Smelt material Ore" are always in caps. |

Yes, modifying uniforms in game is how you accomplish this. |

I'd consider modding to involve altering the RAW files in some way, not altering default settings from in-game. |

Oh, ok, it sounded like you modified material values in the RAW files, hence my confusion. |
