I've confirmed this in the newest version. Thank you Dwarfu for finding it for me, not sure why this did not come up in my search earlier for "child" or "immigrant" (or both)

Just noticed that the "Dwarven Child" who created my latest artifact is eighteen years old. He only recently immigrated and hasn't had a birthday yet. I'll try to remember to post an update if he reaches adulthood on his next birthday.

Here's a screenshot of his Thoughts and Preferences showing date of birth and current age. Current date in the fort is 9 Moonstone, 137

Update: looked over the rest of the children in my fortress. With the exception of one baby born in the fort, all the children are immigrants, and all but one of those are far too old to be proper children, averaging about 18 years old. So far they have all been "coming of age" on their birthday as one would expect.

This is my third fort on this world, and the two forts before ran for several years each. My first fort was overrun by goblins, so I abandoned; the survivors all immigrated to my second fort, which got eaten by demons, no survivors. That means that every immigrant to my current fort is coming out of the post-worldgen coma, and considering that I'm now more than a decade past the end of the worldgen, it appears that what is happening is that dwarves who were children (say, 6 years old) when worldgen ended still carry the profession of "child" into a new fort several years later, until their birthday triggers an age check.

Same thing, got an immigrant dwarven "child" that was 24 days out of the womb.

He has quite a number of decently raised social skills as well (also novice swimming and dancing), which babies should not be eligible for.

This is in 43.05

I just had a, well...related issue. The problem is I've only just noticed this bug in a modded save, so I don't know what the exact cause is.

To summarize, I was playing a world with kobolds set as the fortress civ. Oner change made to facilitate this was setting children to grow up at age 2, instead of 12. But then I received an immigrant child claiming to be 7 years old.

Problem here is it's possible that the game may have a default assumption that any fortress-mode critter SHOULD grow up at 12, even if this is changed in the raws. This is complicated by the fact that all my other bolds are at least 69 years old.

Since it states her birthday is 10th of Malachite, I'll have to see whether she'll grow up on her 8th birthday, 6 years late. If not, then it might be a sign it's actually my modding causing the problem. ._.

It's 10th of Malachite, and the little skulking vermin has grown up on her birthday. So it seems that lowering the growth age isn't COMPLETELY broken.

However, literally every migrant I've had under the age of 12 has had this problem, suggesting something hardcoded is going on with citizens set to grow up sooner, which likely is beyond this issue.

..literally all other adults in this poor excuse for a kobold fort are at least 50 years old, mierda.
