Summary | 0005900: Coal smelting yields too low |
Description | The mining tweak for 0.34.08 reduced all yields to 25% (except for raw adamantine and gems), and various parts were boosted to accomodate for this - smelting ore gives 4 bars, and the "make alloy (use ore)" reactions had their outputs quadrupled.
However, the two "make coke" reactions still only produce 2-3 bars of coke, making coal vastly less useful than it used to be (for embarks that even have any of it to begin with, anyways), especially when trying to make pig iron or steel.
The reactions for making pig iron and steel are similarly affected by the reduced drop rates of flux, though the fact that flux stones occur in layers makes this somewhat less severe. |
Additional Information | This actually brings steelmaking closer to the way it was back in the 2D versions, where bituminous coal (equivalent to today's lignite) only had a 63% mining rate and limestone (which was only available in small quantities along the cave river) only had a 44% mining rate for a Legendary miner. |
