Additional InformationFirst time I was completly unable to brew anything right from the beginning.
Second time I could brew at the start but during first autumn my Brewer canceled brewing without any apparent reason.

There were several barrels with plump helmets as well as single plants. One of the barrels only contained 2 plump helmets.

This issue was discussed before (0007344) but that user found the reason to be because he overwrote his old dwarf fortress with a new version. I didn't do that so the source of the problem isn't the same.

I use the Spacefox Tileset.

 I just downloaded a fresh version, created a new world and got the same issue. I have barrels, I have plants, I have a brewer but I cannot brew anything. This is really frustrating

 The most recent version of Spacefox I could find includes raw files from 34.11... If you overwrite your 40.14 raws with 34.11 raws bad things happen (like new and necessary brewing tags disappearing). Don't install mods that aren't up to date.

Spacefox is included in the Lazy Newb Pack--you can wait until LNP 40.14 is released to get a corrected version of Spacefox.

 Yes. I got the same issue when I downloaded a clean version and used it without any tilesets or non-vanilla content.

Is it possible that my df_40_14_win loads files or data from other Dwarf Fortress folders on my hdd?

I will remove any Dwarf Fortress files I have and try again with a clean version and then report back.

*edit* That solved the issue. I had an old Dwarf Fortress folder hidden somewhere among others and now that it's gone it working with a clean version.

 I have experienced problems where brewing is not possible but there remain plump helmets in a barrel. I suspected it had to do with hauling conflicts, but I'm not sure. It usually sorted itself out before too long.
