0003815: Upon reload game stops a few times, results in crash within a few minutes
Save game for review: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3558 [^]

Save is just after the true end of the second siege this fortress has faced, along with an ettin arriving just before (it's in the lefthand cage trap north of the entrance bridge). Before save, alert was taken down and dwarves freed from burrows to sort out the mess after the last trolls were killed; the goblins had long since fled.

Once the save is loaded and the game unpaused, the game holds up two or three times within a couple minutes, as what seems to be the FPS tanking (the display shows the FPS to be 2 upon it starting up again), and finally freezes entirely forcing a forced quit through Task Manager, which shows the game to be pulling some 241,100K of memory at this time, as well as a full 25% of the computer's quad-core CPU.
Load, unpause and wait between one and two minutes.
There was one raw edit, adding [SPEED:1] to the dwarf entry of creatures_standard.txt before embarking on this fortress, which was removed at the beginning of the third year.

I had a look at this and it is quite possibly related or even a duplicate of 0003651 as there is a ghost present and I'm getting path fail errors for it in errorlog.txt.

I'm leaving it as 'related to' until more testing is done.

The announcements don't go back far enough - how long ago did the ghost appear?

Checking the current savegame and the the seasonal backups I have, the ghost rose within the last season. I remember the dwarf in question; he fell into the volcano after dodging a Rhesus Macaque over a year beforehand. I'd forgotten about ghosts as I'd made a large mass burial room, but since this dwarf has no recoverable body I suppose that makes the sarcophagus meaningless.

I'll see if I can manage getting a slab done for the ghost and see if it helps, as well as checking other coffins and replacing any empty ones with slabs.

Ok, let me know the outcome of getting rid of the ghost and if that solves the problem.

Unfortunately the save I uploaded is too far gone to get a slab made much less engraved and built. However doing so for all unburied deceased dwarves in the backup from the beginning of summer prevents the problem.

Thanks for the solution, Dwarfu. My hat's off to you.

Thanks for the follow-up. I'll mark this as a duplicate and post the save in the other report.
