Summary0005300: "No weapon for execution" when Hammerer is in military squad
DescriptionWhenever the Hammerer has to punish a Dwarf with Hammerstrikes, I get the error message "[Hammerer] cancels Execute Criminal: No weapon for execution". I have every type of weapon available, except for foreign weapons. I don't really know, which weapon the Hammerer requires, but I assume it's either a Mace oder a War Hammer. I've mode both out of iron.

Yepp, they are.

I changed my Hammerer since the bug occured, because I hoped another dwarf would have different weapon preferences and therefore work. Sadly, no crimes occured since then, so I cannot tell you if the bug still persists.

As the bug happened, the Captain of the Guard ("Ordner") was also the Hammerer.

Right now the Hammerer is a different dwarf out of the millitary with no other function (except being in the military of course).

Just had the same thing happen, two times in a row. Hammerer happens to have a bronze war hammer in their right hand, along with a buckler in the left hand.
If it matters, the hammerer was originally and continues to be a part of the guard's squad before being appointed as the hammerer. Checking the 'Equip' screen in the military screen confirms that the hammerer has these two items equipped. It was also a rather recent appointment. There are a two unsolved murders for which you can convict someone and see if the hammerer will do something.

The criminals that did not get their beating were set free, one has head back to their fishing spot and the other has a job 'fish' but is still sticking around their rope in the jail, which does not have the dwarf assigned.

EDIT: In this case removing hammerer from military should fix this.

Confirmed in jp.mech's save that removing the hammerer from the military allows the sentence to be carried out.
