0007067: Animals do not age or mature
Animals do not age or mature. Some animals train, some do not; The first Grizzly bear I tried to train for war worked fine. The first Dog I trained for war worked fine. All other Dogs I tried to train, would queue but never train, giving the "animal is not preset" notice while the trainer was standing over them.

I found that with only two trainers, and four dogs set to train for war or hunting, the trainers would not complete any other tasks. Even after I canceled the training in the animal view(z,) neither trainer would construct a new kennel I ordered.

Once I removed the labor skill animal training, canceled the animal training, and gave a new dwarf the training skill, the NEW trainer would build the kennel but still not train any of the dogs previously queued.
using Pheobus preinstalled DF .40.01

The training part is covered at 0006748. I'm changing this report to focus only on the aging/maturation issue. Can you elaborate on that?

Sure. After several years, none of the puppy's or chicks aged. Although animals seem to birth normally, they never matured into adults.

Does this affect dwarves too? The not aging or maturing part.

Possibly related to or duplicate of 0006334?
If so it is fixed in 40.02.

Not fixed in .40.02. I did notice however that animals that are adopted and named, grow and age normally. The "stray" animals do mature, however it takes at least three times longer than named ones. i.e. after several hours of playing, a dog stray dog might mature, where as an adopted one will do so very quickly.

It appears to have been fixed. 40.09 works fine but I'm not sure what version it began working again.

Thanks!
