Summary0010036: Disproportion between thieves sizes and size of goods stolen
DescriptionI would call it something of a design oversight:
In my current game I had a Kea who stole an acacia stepladder

Well, Keas (in RL) are curious and highly intelligent ... they like to attack sheep and yes, they are known to be thieves.
But, as parrots, they surely are too small and weak, to steal a whole wooden stepladder :D

Perhaps a check should be introduced that compares a thieves size/strength with the size/weight of the item to be stolen and then cancels the theft event (or rerolls for the good stolen), if the result is too disproportionate/ridiculous
Steps To ReproduceHave a fortress in a region where Keas roam.
Keep smaller items locked away and have only large items be available for them to steal.
Sooner or later you will probably get a Kea stealing an item that should be far too large for his body size

I'm guessing if this is more of an oversight, either A. Toady & Threetoe are planning to handle it sometime, or B. Go to the suggestion forums/Eternal Suggestion Voting.

I was already divided over this (whether posting it in "suggestions" or Bugtracker) before posting it here. But then I thought that, in a way it is a bug (at least if the game aims for a little bit realism on this matter ... which isn't too far of a sretch, considering that they also have different clothes sizes for different species)

Addendum:
It turns out that there is one thing they love to steal even more than step ladders ... and that is wheelbarrows. The stole around 3-4 of them in the 2-3 hours I played the game now

Must surely be a sight ... a Kea in flight, with a wheelbarrow in his claws :D

Wait a minute -- supposing two keas carried it together? They'd have to have it on a line, but they could use a strand of creeper. Probably held under the dorsal guiding feathers...

LOL
True ... that Keas form criminal gangs and use more technical means in order to carry away larger stuff cannot be excluded, considering their intelligence and social behavior

:D

Are you sure you didn't encounter the dreaded Giant Kea? They are known to frequent the same biome, especially after their brethren are slain.

Giant Keas can steal lead stepladders.

Nope, neither were it Keamen/-women ... definitely normal Keas who stole the stepladders and wheelbarrows ...
even if I wanted to kill those Keas (which I don't want ... especially as now, that 90% of my activities are underground, the thefts of wheelbarrow and stepladders have decreased to 0) I wouldn't know how to kill thosae Keas without posting crossbowdwarves every where 24/7 (considering the Keas are airborne) :D

I'm not convinced that this isn't just an unimplemented feature, and missing features aren't bugs, but in terms of reasonably expected behavior, I can see why this and 0005784 could be considered bugs.

Is this still an issue in the current version?
