Summary0002121: Screen flicker when switching menus.
DescriptionWhen using menus such as the squad or designation menus in-game (during Dwarf Mode, didn't tried other modes), a black frame appear, and disappear immediately, causing a flickering effect every time you enter or exit a menu.
Since menus are often opened and exited through the game, it quickly become annoying.
Steps To ReproduceStart a game on 0.31.04, open a menu.
Additional InformationI tried every single print mode the init file allow, with no success. My Nvidia's graphic card driver is up to date. It happens when in fullscreen and windowed.

Is anyone else getting this problem?

I see it, it's definitely new to 31.04. Vista-64bit, decent graphics card, windowed but maximized...

I'm new to the game and have only played .04, but I'm seeing it. After some menus, it lasts for almost a whole second, though I'd have to pay attention to say which, if any, are particular culprits.

I have experienced in in the Windows version of .04, but not the Linux version.

I think perhaps the SDL version handles menues a little more cleanly.

Edit: I am using Vista64 and Ubuntu64.

Does updating your drivers fix the problem for anyone?

Oh, I posted on the thread a while ago, but I suppose I should post here. I have it too, Windows XP, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT. I did NOT have this problem with the 40d# versions, so it's new.

I get this problem on Linux (Gentoo ~amd64) with a Radeon 4350 (lame) and the newest Mesa/xf86-video-ati from its git repository.

I get it too. Win XP 8600GT - new drivers etc. Never saw it in other versions.

No flickering in adventure mode, otherwise same, nothing in 40d and updated drivers.

The old flicker when ENTERING one of those menus seems to have stopped for me with 31.05, but the flicker when EXITING such a menu remains (or perhaps has changed but is still similar). This flicker also leaves black spaces on the gray "border" tiles now. These black spaces return to gray if I switch away from the DF window and switch back.

Seems to me that on windows at least, .05 has many more flickery places.

When I set "forbid passage" to a door and then revert it, the screen turns black for a blink. Dwarf Fortress 0.31.06 with Phoenix tileset.

Is this happening in 31.06 Legacy, 31.06 SDL, or both?

I'm getting this with the SDL version, it happens when I change to creature placement mode in the arena. Also happens with the view units and hotkeys keys.

I'm using Maydays tileset, version .06 .
