Summary0003633: Reluctant Doctors
DescriptionAll dwarves with healthcare skills, including the chief medical dwarf, will spend extended period of idle time with no job before finally condescending to offer treatment. This includes, especially, the recovery of the wounded.

Treatment of injuries needs to have a much higher priority. If doctors were willing/able to triage patients and respond rapidly to injured dwarves, a more realistic system of combat medicine would be possible.

I would suggest that dwarves who have 'recover wounded' selected be interrupted in their tasks when encountering an injured dwarf, at a lower priority than the enemy encounter interruption. Thus, as a battle was winding down, or towards the rear ranks, wounded dwarves could be recovered in a timely fashion.
