Summary0004356: Process Plant to Barrel doesn't accept large pots
DescriptionThe job to process a plant to a barrel, such as sweet pods into syrup, does not accept empty large pots, unlike other jobs using barrels.
Steps To Reproduce* Have a plant processable to barrels, a farmer's workshop, empty large pots, and no empty barrels.

* Add the Process Plants (Barrel) job to the workshop.

* A dwarf with the appropriate labor will carry the plant to the workshop, then cancel the job due to lack of barrels.
Additional InformationI have a save available. It is modded, but the pertinent parts (stone pots, sweet pods) are unchanged from the stock raws.

Does it reproduce in 0.31.24? (new version got posted a few minutes before your report, looks like)

Yep, it still happens.

Most of the barrel-related jobs are hardcoded to use an item of type BARREL and don't consider TOOL items with [TOOL_USE:FOOD_STORAGE]. The custom reaction for making mead is one of the few (possibly only) jobs that can use both barrels and large pots.

Brewing in general, food storage, and possibly other jobs do accept both, and since large pots are supposed to work like barrels, then most instances where they don't are presumably bugs. I suppose in buildings it might not be.

I can only imagine the reason for that is that not all pots are capable of holding liquids - I'd bet that the patch that added a "check for pot that can hold liquids" to the brewery must have simply overlooked the farmer's workshop need for the same option.

This is still a problem in DF2014.
