Summary0008096: Excessive number of migrants with trader profession due to retired caravan merchants
DescriptionI'm currently playing a fort in its eighth year, with a current population of 96 after raising the cap from 50 to 100 about a year ago.
In my summer wave of migrants, two out of six migrants were traders.
In the fall, three out of six migrants were traders.
Looking at my unit list, at least 12 dwarves out of 69 non-founder adults migrated as traders (there may be others who gained enough of another skill to not show up as traders on the list); so there has been a much higher rate of trader migration since I reopened immigration.

I recently had one migrant whom I was able to positively identify as a former caravan guard; I noticed she had a kill list, and saw that she was the one who killed a giant who had attacked my fort a couple years ago and been stopped by caravan guards.

I looked at many of my dwarves, including the trader migrants and known former caravan guard, in legends mode. My founders, and most migrants, have legends entries that just start by saying they settled in my fort and became members of my government. Example: https://i.imgur.com/DBDL02U.png [^]
The known former caravan guard and the trader migrants, however, have legends entries saying that they left my civilization, settled in my fort, became members of the civilization again, and became members of my government.

Based on these observations I conclude that a lot of caravan merchants are retiring from the caravan to live in my fort. This could be further tested by writing down the names of all merchants during play and comparing to future migrants.
This is sort of a cool feature, but the merchants seem to be out of proportion to other migrants and are becoming a bit of a nuisance. I confirmed that my civilization isn't dead, but maybe there aren't many other historical dwarves to immigrate?

Note that I am not experiencing 0005098; the trader migrants seem to be entirely normal citizens of my fort. Perhaps this is evidence that 0005098 is fixed?

This is a copy of my save where I retired my fort to investigate in legends mode, because I think that's likely to be where the cause can be found. I could also upload a copy of the fort.
