0006903: Fleeing dwarves ignore dangerous terrain
Dwarves will run off of cliffs and into rivers when fleeing. My experience was with a fortress positioned next to a waterfall. When invaders arrived, civilian dwarves (and two military dwarves with no discipline skill) fled and threw themselves either off of the cliff or into the river that fed the waterfall. Later on in play, many more dwarves did the same when the ghosts from the first wave of jumpers began to haunt them.
Have undisciplined dwarves stand near dangerous terrain and introduce a threat that makes them flee.
Disciplined dwarves swam through murky pools when chasing the invaders, so it may be reliant on general combat pathfinding instead of the fleeing behavior.

Toned down a bit this sounds like it could be a feature.
Sufficiently terrified units too scared to see where they're going blunder over cliffs / into walls / into eachother?

I believe the key point here that should be mentioned is that out of approximately 20 dwarves, all but 4 died through this lemming routine. This was not a controlled behavior from a few unhinged, unhappy, or easily frightened dwarves, but a mass exodus into the afterlife.

Same results here, v40.03. An entire fortress of dwarves, frightened by a few zombies, leap from the walls of the fort, into the waiting arms of other zombies.
I agree it might make a nice feature, but it would need to be toned down a lot. and I think i'd prefer a bravery modifier for arrow slits. Dwarves should take heart in strong walls, not see them as a diving board.

Also experiencing this bug in 40.07. Dwarves path right off the side of a bridge and across a cliff face instead of fleeing into the open fortress entrance, leading to 100% death amongst all civilian dwarves who catch sight of a goblin.

Have a save here demonstrating. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9352 [^]

The leaping should be much less common now for 0.40.09.
