Summary0000100: Water does not cool semi-molten rock
DescriptionSince water turns magma (molten rock) into obsidian, shouldn't water also solidify semi-molten rock that it contacts?

Steps To ReproduceDig way down to semi-molten rock. Pipe nice cool refreshing water down to this level and douse the rock.

How is this major?

It's not. I wrote it late at night after an hour of building my masterpiece lava-tunneling contraption... That didn't work. So to answer your question, It was major to me at the time, but in retrospect it is a fairly minor bug.

I think it's not a bug. Rather it's that semi molten rock limits the depth, so that you cant just keep on digging down for ever. (Be happy with the 100 z levels ye've got. ;) )

so... basically what you're saying here is...

1. leave a rock on a tile.
2. pour magma on the rock until it melts.
3. remove the magma (pumps)
4. add water (pumps again)
5. and watch the rock remain molten underwater?

Or am I completely insane? It's a pretty complicated device to engineer up to prove/disprove a pretty obscure behavior. I'm honestly not even sure what would happen on this one back in 40d, let alone now.

Semi molten rock is something that can occur at any depth below a certain number of Z levels, I have chunks of the stuff at around lvl 50, out of 150. If there genuinely is no way through it, then it could cut a player off from large amounts of the map.

Well there's really no reason for it not to be tunnel-able, as it is only blocking you off from the HFS... If people want to tunnel through semi-molten rock instead of the happy blue stuff, they should be able to...
