Summary0007192: Adventurer self-answers in conversation with wildlife
DescriptionIn adventure mode if you try to talk to an animal (e.g. ask for a cease of hostility), and talk again, you'll be given the option to answer it yourself.
Steps To ReproduceEnter adventure mode, find an animal, try talk to him, try talk to him again. Have tested with asking for a cease of hostility, don't know if other options are the same.

I had the same happen when talking to a pump operator.
after conversing normally for a while I asked
a)about the surroundings
I hit enter and no reply came
when pressing 'k' and continuing the conversation, the only option was to select
"ask me when I'm back home"
Upon pressing enter, the pump operator replied(!) with a regular surroundings answer, NOT with "ask me when I'm back home" (which would be the reply I'd expect from myself - I'm a traveling adventurer).

b)about troubles
same thing, it expected me to reply. However, I had no options to choose from and after trying to scroll through the itemless list with -*/+ and pressing enter, the game crashed.

Notes:
I entered a fortress, approached the trade depot, upon which a brawl broke out. I talked with several people, some actively involved in the conflict - one was a goblin that I demanded to yield.
I have a save right before entering the fort. Unfortunately I can't reproduce it. The brawl breaks out regularly, but the belligerents are different every time. I haven't been able to reproduce the conversation anomaly at all.

Should I upload the save regardless?

This and 0007106 should be merged into a bug that states "talking to creatures that cannot talk causes adventurer to talk to themselves".

Hm, I think I had a similar situation when I was telling a lord to have ___ give tribute to ____ and I think I had the option of choosing whether or not to do that, wasn't sure what was going on anyway since that adventurer was spawned in the middle of a battle in a town keep and all I could glean was that there was a war going on.

I have a different experience. I just talked to a Giant Weasel twice and received no response to my greeting. On the third time DF crashed to desktop. This is the only ticket I found about talking to animals.

I use a Mac, btw, and DF 0.40.02.

Yeah, using wildlife to converse with oneself causes a game crash when you try to reply to an inquiry about troubles.
